Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE QUARTER SCALE MODEL OX-5 V8 ENGINE RARE, COLLECTABLE MODEL ENGINE This is a museum quality model. It is the exact scale running model of the famous OX-5 water cooled, V8 engine used in WWI era Curtiss “Jenny” Biplane. This is No. 12 of the 100 made. Extremely Rare. This engine has a bore of .950” and stroke of 1.25”, giving it a displacement of 7.0 ci. It has a wet sump, pressure lubricated, water cooled with an electronic spark ignition. It’s capable of turning a 24-12 propeller @ 3000rpm. Handmade miniature 10-32 spark plugs and fully operational, timed distributor spark ignition. The fully functional water pump and internal oil pump work exactly as the full scale original. All intake and exhaust valves operate exactly as the original. The oil pan has a fully functional “oil level indicator”. The “updraft carburetor” is an exact scale operating item; it has a float inside the bowl, with adjustable air jets and fuel jets. The model has a miniature name plate with the #12 stamped on it. Made by “Replica Engines”, the OX-5 was the 2nd engine in their “Scale Series”. The first was the fully functional 9 cylinder “Gnome Radial”. As part of my extensive collection, I displayed the model in a glass display cabinet and have never run it. I purchased it from a Model Engine Collectors Association Member some years ago and some of the rubber has dry-rot so needs replacement. One of the brass exhaust connectors is missing. “Replica Engines” should be able to help. The Model Engine is sold “as is”. Shipping charges are the responsibility of the Winning Bidder. The actual cost for shipping will be determined at the end of auction. Email me at vlkwagen@aol.com if you have any questions.
