This is an outstanding example of an original Dooling Mercury “Reardrive”. Manufactured in 1940 by the Dooling Bros. of Los Angeles, California. The racer is about 18-1/2″ long and made of cast aluminum. The frame is excellent with no cracks and still has all the cross members, including the usually cut-out crossmember just behind the engine. The original grill is factory stock with no cuts, breaks or alternations. Both front and rear axles are excellent. All four wheels are correct and original for this car. The front tires are also the correct ones with no flat spots, tread is good. The rear tires are the larger 4″ size found on the Dooling Streamliner (Frog) cars and also sold separately. They are pre-war, hollow and in nice shape with good tread. All four tires, however, have hardened somewhat with age. The engine is a pre-war Dennymite, generally considered correct for this car. There’s no problems with the engine, no damage and has good compression. The Dennymite gas tank is pretty rare, it’s very old plastic and has the filler cap on the very edge of the tank. Other than the batteries the car is complete. The old paint job is a striking green and cream with the “7 UP” tail number especially eye catching. This racer has the right “look”, the way it sits, the paint and the correctness of the car makes this one hard to upgrade from. Please ask all questions before you bid, all sales are final.
