Offered for sale, is a sharp, Lionel Prewar Gauge Steam Freight Set from 1939. It is Set # 0082, which features a # 002 Engine & # 002W Tender. It also has three cars, a # 0024 Boxcar, a # 0025 Tank Car, and a # 0027 Caboose. All trains are in like new condition. The engine is an excellent plus. It is sharp, with nice lettering. They both need a good cleaning. It is unbroken, as is the tender. It is lettered New York Central. It has a whistle. The set also includes the proper three rail track in its rare, original box, and the rare original # 0082 Setbox. The # 024 Boxcar has a factory error; there are no decals on one side. All trains are individually boxed. The engine, tender, and boxcar are missing one end flap; the other boxes are complete. The engine and tender have the cotton wadding, and the whistle controller is included. The track consists of 11- 3-Rail Curved Sections, 1- Three Rail Curved Terminal Section, and 4- 3-Rail Straight Sections. All track is nice and unbroken, with only a piece or two having some rust. The setbox is complete with all flaps, and has the original seam tape intact. I grade it a C-7.5. The label is nice and clear. This is an almost complete set, that is very difficult to find in this collector grade.
