A great lithograph tin clockwork boattail racer by Rico Alicante – Spain. The company trademark was R.S.A. and they operated from 1930 to 1950’s. The car is 100% original with no restorations. Dark red color, Marked # 3 on rear fender and hood. “R.S.A.” on the rear of the boattail. Trademark “flying goose” on hood and rear of car. Clockwork works great – wind the key and the rear wheels spin. Minor scratches in the paint and some wear to the painted metal wheels as shown in photos. The original litho tin driver is excellent. Overall – the car is 13 1/2″ long. I do see there are “slots” on the left side of the front seat that are identical to the slots used to mount the driver on the right side. At first I thought I might be missing a passenger – but upon researching a little further, it appears that some of these cars were produced with the driver on the right side and others were produced with the driver on the left side. I found two examples of these cars being sold at auction – the driver was on the left side in one and the right side in the other. Therefore, I do not believe there is a missing “passenger”. If any collector knows – please let me know and I will post it. By the way, the auction estimate was $ 1,200 to $1,500 per car. Both cars sold at Bertolia Auction for $950.00 – one in Nov 2008 and one in Mar 2009. Please use my photos to determine condition. I am not an expert in these toys. Paypal only unless you contact me and get approval for other methods prior to bidding. I don’t normally give returns – as this is an auction and I have provided enough photos for the buyer to know what they are getting – but I am confident the buyer will like this great car so I will offer a three day return policy – for a full refund. Buyer to pay shipping.
