This really beautiful set of O Scale ATSF PA-PB-PA diesels was as good as PA’s could get until Key Model Imports brought in their spectacular new PA’s. In fact, this particular set was partially the prototype for Key’s new models. Even the engine numbers are the same. Unfortunately, you cannot buy the new Key models – they are all sold out. This set of Overland models was produced in 1986 as an unpainted, Santa Fe specific set. I super detailed it with working diaphragms, simulated MU hoses between units, real glass in all the windows, and the best lighting system you can get. The lighting includes fully working number boards, both the large ones on the sides and the small one above the windshields, lighted cabs, and lighted class lights. The Mars lights and headlights have custom turned parabolic reflectors with scale size bulbs that give very realistic looking light beams. The Mars lights are run by Richmond Controls circuits that provide a great simulation of the real Mars light. Notice the very uniform lighting in the large side number boards. You just do not get that anywhere else. I finished the models in the famous Santa Fe Warbonnet paint scheme including the only correct rendition of the Warbonnet curves behind the cab that had been done at that time. None of the commercial decal sets has the correct compound curves, so I had to painstakingly piece together bits of decal to replicate those curves. The finish includes a light dusting of the characteristic soot on the roofs due to turbo lag. Even brand new units showed this right away. Note that the slight greenish tint to the yellow color in some of the photos is just an artifact of my camera. The yellow is really the usual bright ATSF yellow. The models have DCC installed and make a great way to get into DCC. However, if you just have to have straight DC, I will convert them back to straight DC at no cost to you. The original boxes are in excellent shape. You can even see a short clip of these PA’s running on You Tube. Check out the URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIhJJCitS6M. Someone took video of them during a layout tour and put it there. I recently went through all three units and tuned them up and re-lubricated the motors and gear boxes. They are in great shape with many years of smooth, realistic service still in them. Buyer will pay around $75 shipping by Parcel Post, which includes insurance. These are heavy models, and the boxes are very large. I will have to ship in two boxes. I will let you know at the close of the auction what the total is for your zip code and correct insurance. If you want to upgrade the shipping, no problem – it is your dime. Of course, if you happen to be in the San Jose, Ca. area and want to pick them up personally, that is great too. Sorry, eBay only allows PayPal for payment or payment at time of personal pick up.
