ollie72 Store C RARE ROY ROGERS GUN & HOLSTER SET Offered here is a rare toy Roy Rogers gun & holster set with the original box from Classy Products. My husband won this set in a contest from Baker’s Chocolate back in 1957. They have been packed away for more than 50 years and are in excellent to near mint condition. The 2 guns are 14 carat gold plated & measure approx. 10″ in length. The handles bear etched scroll-work & the name Roy Rogers is engraved above the trigger. The holsters are black leather with gold-plated etched trim & buckle. The holsters are complete with 6 toy bullets. Roy Rogers’ name is also below the bullet holders & there is an “RR” on each holster. Also included is the letter, signed by Roy Rogers that accompanied this set when it was won in the contest. The letter reads: “Congratulations! I’m mighty pleased to tell you that your entry in the Roy Rogers-Baker’s Instant Chocolate Contest won 3rd prize. We at the RR Bar Ranch are mighty happy that you share our enthusiasm for this chocolate milk drink. Your mailman will be bringing you a pair of genuine 14 carat gold-plated guns, that look just like mine, along with a regular Roy Rogers holster in which to tote them. Dale & the whole gang want me to say Hello & congratulations. We hope that you will keep drinking Baker’s Instant & keep watching us on television. Happy Trails! Your Pardner, Roy Rogers(signed) The letter is dated April 9, 1957. This set comes in the original box. On the box, it says “As Advertised in the Saturday Evening Post”. The box shows some wear & is taped at 3 corners. The guns, though never played, with do show minor tarnish. This set is very rare & would be a wonderful addition to a collection.
