This is one of the rarest and earliest of the great toys from Lehmann. Only a few of these were made in 1896, and you can only speculate as to how many have survived. But to find one shiny, mint and working like this one, is a rare, rare opportunity. And the the original box is firm, complete and very, very nice. The fragile paper wings are complete, with minor glue repair to the delicate tips (often the tips are missing altogether on these toys). And it works with incredible, realistic flapping of the wings. You hold the string out in front of you tight by using the metal tabs (made in the shape of the Lehmann logo) and watch the bird flap as it goes down the string. This is truly a rare buying opportunity that you should not let pass. The shipping will be expensive because I must protect the bird from damage.
