This is a new one for me, old and MASSIVELY EXPENSIVE model car kits. I’ve built a few in my day, and considering that there still sold in stores, it’s should be no surprise to me that some people are willing to shell out the big bucks for vintage ones.

Aurora Gigantic Frankenstein Model Kit Box

Prior to this post, I was unfamiliar with Aurora. According to wikipedia: In the 1960s, the now-defunct firm Aurora produced for the popular market cheap plastic models of movie monsters, comic book heroes, and movie and television characters in 1:8 size (about 9 inches or 23 cm in height). Such a market disappeared and no firm currently produces anything to match Aurora’s quantity of many thousands from each mould. I realized afterwards that I have a sealed kit by Aurora, of Dr. Zais from Planet of the Apes.

What I have however, can’t compare to this Aurora Gigantic Frankenstein Model Kit Box. Box only, in mint condition. $2,425.00 with two and a half days to go. Wow.
